Credit control at a glance

Purpose
The module limits default risk: how much outstanding balance may accumulate on a customer before somebody looks?
The decisive sentence appears in the application itself: without a stored limit, nothing takes effect. An enabled module without profiles protects against nothing — while looking as though it does. That is the most expensive false assumption this module permits.
Scope
- Credit profiles per customer, with a limit and rules.
- Override as its own permission, separate from maintaining the profiles.
- Measurement against the actually outstanding balance from invoicing.
Interplay
The outstanding balance comes from invoicing; the check takes effect in the sales process, see Orders. Customers come from the customer base.
Limits
- No profile, no protection. Enabling the module is not enough.
- No credit reference data. The module knows only your own open items, not the customer's
standing in the market.
- Whoever maintains limits should not be able to override them — the separation of permissions is
the real value.
- No dunning. That lives in invoicing.
