Multi-warehouse at a glance
Purpose
The module distributes stock across several warehouses — keeping the distribution separate from the total.
The underlying principle is short: stock per warehouse is a distribution, not a second truth about stock. Postings arise through transfers and the modules' posting routes, never by typing a figure in. A number that could be entered in two places would be right in neither.
Scope
- Warehouses with priority and their own stock valuation; the default warehouse handles stock
resolution.
- Bins, sorted by picking sequence — pick priority, then code.
- Replenishment rules as min/max per product, exactly one rule per warehouse × product.
- Transfers in three steps: draft, send (outgoing), receive (incoming) — in between, the goods
are in transit.
- Cross-warehouse replenishment suggestions from the evaluation of all rules.
- Stock per warehouse read-only.
Interplay
Total stock lives in the product catalogue. Purchasing tops up from outside and deliberately rejects lines from other warehouses; shipping draws down.
Limits
- No second truth about stock. Warehouse stock is a distribution, not a counter-calculation.
- No direct posting per warehouse. Only transfers and module routes.
- Goods in transit are available nowhere — that is correct, not a gap.
- One rule per warehouse and product. Contradictory rules are impossible.
- No pick guidance. Pick routes are controlled by the warehouse management module.
