Product catalogue

Purpose
The catalogue is the master data source for everything that is sold — and holds service, product and licence in one list.
That is the load-bearing decision: separating services from goods means maintaining the same item in two places and finding two pricing logics on one quote. Here both are the same item type in different flavours — and everything downstream, from quote to invoice, draws on one source.
Scope
- Three item kinds — service, product, licence — with SKU, unit, tax rate and the markers *own
product*, billable, stock-managed.
- Variants from variant-forming property groups (colour × size …).
- Properties as groups with options, optionally variant-forming and/or filterable, multilingual.
- A category tree with lead category and additional categories, sortable by dragging, with
content and SEO per category, hideable from navigation.
- Stock per stock-managed item with on hand · reserved · available, reorder point, reorder
quantity, average cost and stock value; stock adjustment with a reason.
- Stock takes with a frozen target figure, blind counting, difference review, posting and a PDF
protocol.
- Manufacturers with GPSR details and a manufacturer part number on the item.
- Bulk actions for status, category and tax rate, plus duplication.
- Translations, SEO, media and relations per item.
Interplay
Prices, tax and stock valuation follow the commerce core — not this module. Items go as line entries into quotes and invoices. Stock movements arise from orders and purchasing; reservations come from there.
Limits
- The catalogue calculates no prices. Price determination, tiers and customer-specific prices are
separate modules; what lives here is the item, not its pricing logic.
- The RRP never enters price determination. It is display only.
- Stock exists only for stock-managed items. Services and licences have none.
- Individual stock adjustments are not evidence. Stock takes are for that — with a frozen target
and a protocol.
- Options are never deleted, only deactivated — otherwise the items and documents using them are
orphaned.
- GPSR completeness is a legal question. The module provides the fields; which details suffice is
for your legal advisers.
